Syncing iMpact with Google

In iMpact, everyone has a personalized calendar that contains things like important events, speakers, class schedules, exams, job interviews, technology equipment loans, counseling appointments, and room reservations.

You're now able to sync this data to your Google calendar!  You no longer have to go through a tricky export/import process or manually create meetings and events in two separate locations.

Setting up the Sync

  1. You'll want to switch over to your iMpact calendar.  Do this by clicking the Calendar tab from above, and then choosing Calendar View.  From there, scroll down and click the string of text beneath the calendar that reads, "Sync this with your Google calendar."

  2. Follow the on-screen prompts.  You'll be instructed to click a link to generate a unique URL, and shown how to copy and paste that URL into your Google calendar.

Keep in mind that this is not a two-way connection—in other words, meeting invites you create while in Google will not transfer to iMpact. In addition, it may take up to twenty-four hours for events to show up in Google after adding them in iMpact, and you aren’t able to selectively choose which items you want to sync. But once you set up the sync, everything that is on your iMpact calendar now or in the future will show up when viewing your Google calendar.

Renaming the Calendar

By default, Google will list the iMpact calendar under your "Other Calendars," with the name of the URL.  You can change this to something a little more readable by going into the calendar settings, and modifying the name.

  1. Click the drop-down arrow next to the newly imported iMpact calendar, and choose "Calendar Settings."

  2. Click in the "Calendar Name:" field and delete the URL text.  Type in whatever you wish, and then click Save.
