Tips on Remaining Secure when Working Remotely

With the Ross community working remotely for a while, the following resources help ensure you are protected while teaching, learning, and working online:

  1. Utilize the U-M VPN: Use a virtual private network (VPN) connection at all times when accessing University resources. A VPN creates a secure, encrypted connection between your device and the U-M network and enables access to university resources from untrusted networks.
  2. Recognize Phishing: Phishing is used by criminals who use malicious email and websites to try to trick you into revealing your password or other sensitive information or infecting your computer with malware. Do not open any email attachments or click on any links that seem suspicious.
  3. Keep your Video Conference meeting secure: As videoconferencing use increases, so does the prevalence of unauthorized attendees sharing inappropriate and disruptive content during a meeting or class. Here are steps you can take to keep your video conference meeting secure.
  4. Use a strong password: From creating a strong password to resetting a forgotten password, we're here to help keep you secure.
