Registration Information for Fall 2019: MSCM, Class of 2020

Welcome! The Ross Registrar’s Office works closely with the MSCM Program Director and the University Registrar’s Office to facilitate registration for your Fall 2019 term. The Ross Registrar’s Office will automatically register MSCM students in the appropriate core courses. To learn more about the process for course registration for Fall 2019, be sure to review all of the information below carefully!

Registration Planning: Get Ready

General registration will open April 1-3, but the University catalog and schedule of classes for Fall 2019 is currently available. Be sure to review the schedule and the information below before registration opens.

Q. How many classes should I plan to take in addition to my core?
A. MSCM students will take 9.75 credits of core in Fall 2019. A minimum of 30 credits are required to graduate, so you need to complete 1 elective credit hour prior to graduation. It is strongly recommended this course is completed in the fall term, given your 14.25 credit hour load in the winter term.

Q. What do I need to know about choosing electives?
A. 
A minimum of 1.0 credit of either approved Business and/or approved Engineering electives are required during your time in the program. This credit is in addition to any elective credits taken specifically to replace waived core. Review the core curriculum for more information about selecting approved electives.

Q. How do I find out what courses are being offered and when?
A. You can view the full University schedule (including Ross and non-Ross courses) on Wolverine Access, or via the Office of the Registrar, which has a helpful .CSV file version that can be downloaded/sorted for specific units, days, times, etc. Use these resources to start to plan which Ross and/or Engineering electives you wish to add in addition to your Fall core (see information on your core requirements below).

Core Requirements: Get Set

Ross Academic Services will load MSCM students into the required Fall 2019 core, with the exception of required Ross and/or Engineering electives. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure you are registering for and completing the appropriate courses and requirements. If you have not fulfilled all of your core requirements by April 2020, you will not graduate.

Q. What are my core requirements?

Q. What core will the Ross Registrar’s Office register me in for Fall 2019?
A. 
The Ross Registrar’s Office will register MSCM students in the following 9.75 credits of core courses:

  • TO 605: Manufacturing & Supply Operations (3.0 credits)
  • TO 618: Supply Chain Analytics (3.0 credits)
  • TO 624: Strategic Sourcing (2.25 credits)
  • TO 616: Project Management (1.5 credits)

Q. How do I know which core requirements I have or haven’t completed?
A. 
View a live degree audit of your record under Academic Requirements on Wolverine Access, review the core curriculum, track your progress using the MSCM Degree Requirements Checklist, and/or schedule a Graduate Degree Audit Check appointment with an Academic Advisor.

General Registration: Go!

MSCM students will use the general registration process on Wolverine Access to add their remaining electives. Please refer to How to Add & Drop Classes for more detailed registration instructions.

Q. Do I need to use the backpack feature on Wolverine Access?
A. 
It is recommended that you do, but it is not required. Starting March 27, you can begin to add any additional classes you are interested in taking to your "Backpack" in Wolverine Access. Backpacking courses allows you to quickly add those classes all at once when your registration appointment time opens. Be aware that backpacking does not reserve a seat for you in the class - it is simply a way to put the course in your "shopping cart" so that you can "check-out" quickly. If a class in your backpack does not have room available when your registration time opens, you may have to waitlist yourself, and/or select an alternate open class.

Q. When is my registration appointment time?
A. 
The University assigns registration appointment times for graduate students between April 1-3. The times are determined by the credits completed, and then are randomly assigned. You can view your assigned time on Wolverine Access starting March 27.

Q. Do I have to register exactly at my appointment time, and when does my registration close?
A. 
You do not need to register exactly at your appointment time, but some classes will fill quickly, or seats may be opened to non-Ross students after registration has been open for a week or more, so it is to your advantage to register when your appointment time opens. Once your appointment time opens, you can continue to make changes until the drop/add deadlines for Fall 2019.

If you have questions regarding course selection or degree requirements, please schedule an appointment with an Academic Advisor through our Academic Advising System. You can also meet with an Academic Advisor during academic advising drop-in hours (Tuesday and Wednesday 1:00-2:00PM in K2520) for quick advising questions and urgent issues.
