Credit for Foreign Language Study

MBA Program

If you are interested in requesting permission to take an undergraduate language course at The University of Michigan for credit toward your MBA degree, please complete the form from the link below and submit it to the Ross Registrar’s Office.

Credit for undergraduate language courses is awarded on a 2 for 1 credit basis. For example, a 4 credit undergraduate language course would earn 2 graduate credits. Students must achieve a course grade of B or better. There is a maximum of 6 graduate credit hours that may be earned through undergraduate language study. These credit hours are not included in calculation for academic honors.

Submitting Forms: The Request for Credit for Undergraduate Language Coursework is a pdf form that can be completed electronically and emailed to rossregistrarsoffice@umich.edu. SAVE the pdf file to your computer, type into the appropriate fields (being sure to complete all information), SAVE again, and email to our office as an attachment. This allows us to process the request and add this to your electronically stored student file without using any paper! Of course, we will continue to process hard copy forms, so you can print the form, complete it by hand and return it to our office.

BBA Program

Ross BBA foreign language and distribution requirements are very similar to the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LS&A).  Please refer to the appropriate BBA Program Bulletin and the appropriate LS&A Bulletin for details.
