University Resources

As a Ross student, you have access to a number of services. As a Ross student at the University of Michigan – the number of resources multiplies. Here are some central campus resources and services available to all University of Michigan students.

REGISTRATION/STUDENT RECORDS RESOURCES:

Wolverine Access: Use this central Registration system to register for classes, request transcripts, apply for graduation and monitor your student accounts. 

Office of the Registrar: The central campus Registrar manages registration through Wolverine Access. Adding or dropping classes after Wolverine Access registration has closed may require visiting the Registrar. Be sure to bring your UM Student ID!

Office of Financial Aid (OFA): OFA administers grants, scholarships, loans, and federal Work-Study funds to eligible entering and continuing students.

Student Rights & Records (FERPA): The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulates how we protect your student records.

STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES:

The resources below are available to help students with their mental health & awareness and physical well-being, personal safety and emergency situations

Mental Health & Awareness and Physical Well-being
  • Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
    • CAPS work revolves around clinical service delivery, prevention and education, mental health awareness, research and data work, and training a new generation of professionals
  • Wellness Coaching
    • A free 1:1 coaching conversation is available to undergraduate and graduate students by appointment. Coaching topics include: Alcohol and other drugs, sleep, body image issues, and general topics such as adjustment to UM, academic concerns, relationships, stress management, physical health, sexual health and working through barriers to achievement and well-being.
  • Wolverine Wellness Canvas Tab
    • The Well-Being for UM Students website can help students locate all campus well-being resources, find well-being events on campus, enjoy stress-reliving videos when you need a break, and can be found on Canvas (look for the colorful icon in the main vertical menu).
  • Wolverine Support Network (WSN)
    • Empowers UM students to create an inclusive community and support each other’s identity, mental well-being, and day-to-day lives. Their work is facilitated through 30+ peer-led support groups and hosts community building events. 
  • Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center (SAPAC)
    • Provides a wide array of supportive services for survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking, sexual harassment, and gender-based harassment to help them grow, heal, and share their stories through individual support, advocacy, peer lead support groups, and community education and training.
  • Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs (MESA)
    • Strives to promote student development and empower the campus community around issues of diversity and social justice through the lens of race and ethnicity.
  • Spectrum Center
    • Is a collaborative space in which all members of the university and local community are welcome – the Center supports students to thrive in a diverse society and globally. The center works towards enhancing the campus climate and support services for LGBTQ+ students, staff and faculty at UM through education, advocacy, and community building.
  • Services for Students with Disabilities
    • Provides services to students with visual, hearing or mobility impairments, or learning disabilities. This office also works with students who have chronic health problems or psychological disabilities.
  • University Health Services
    • UHS is your campus health and wellness resource, offering comprehensive clinical services plus support for your well-being. Most services are free for currently enrolled UM Ann Arbor students.
Personal Safety & Emergency Situations
  • Department of Public Safety and Security (DPSS)
    • For Police, Fire, and Medical Emergencies dial 911. For non-emergencies call 734-763-1131 or text 377911
  • After Hours Transit Options
    • Emergency Ride Home: Free taxi rides can be provided in emergency situations for students, faculty and staff to return to their vehicle parked in remote lots or to any location (home, school, daycare provider, etc). This service is available 24/7 and limited to six times per permit year.
    • Ride Home: Free shared-ride taxis service for students, faculty and staff to their residence halls, vehicles parked in U-M operated lots or structures, or local residence (within a one-mile radius of Central and North Campuses). This service is available after U-M transit buses have concluded daily service, seven days a week
    • S.A.F.E. Walk: Campus accompaniment service that functions as an alternative to walking alone on campus at night. Coordinated by the Department of Public Safety and Security (DPSS), escorts are free of charge and available to all members of UM community.
    • SafeRide: SafeRide is a free service that transports students, faculty, and staff to their residence or vehicle within a one-mile radius of campus. Riders may use this service once per evening and must present a valid U-M ID (Mcard). During Fall and Winter terms, this service is available daily from 8:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.
    • State Street Ride: Free after-hours taxi service from any UM building to the South State Street Commuter (Park & Ride) lot after buses have concluded daily service. Monday – Friday, 10p.m. – 6:00a.m. 
  • Paratransit
    • A scheduled door-to-door service for students, faculty, and staff with permanent or temporary disabilities.
  • Dean of Students Office
    • Is a central place for students, parents, faculty and staff to receive assistance with navigating the complex issues of student life. Their staff provides support to individual students or groups experiencing life situations impacting their Michigan experience and coordinates the appropriate individual or campus-wide response.
  • Office of Student Conflict Resolution (OSCR)
    • OFA administers grants, scholarships, loans, and federal Work-Study funds to eligible entering and continuing students.

  • University Career Center
    • Offers career resources around jobs and internships, career exploration, and applying to graduate/professional schools.
  • University Career Alumni Network (UCAN)
    • UCAN is a platform that enables you to connect with U-M alumni and other professionals for career related conversations/informational interviews
