Course Bidding is a benefit reserved for BBA Seniors using a process for point allocation (similar to interview bidding). Seniors participate in a pre-registration course bidding process in which they allocate points to prioritize business courses for their schedules. Ross Academic Advising will be holding two Course Bidding Info Sessions, one on Wednesday, November 16 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in R2210, and the other on Friday, November 18 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in B1580.
Q. When is Course Bidding?
A. November 18 at 10 a.m. - November 22 at 10 a.m. Do NOT wait until the last minute! Place your bids well before the 10 a.m. deadline on November 22 to ensure that you are able to access the system and enter your bids successfully. Bids cannot be processed after the system has closed. Results will be posted on November 25.
Q. Do I have to participate in Course Bidding?
A. Yes, in order to secure a seat in a required capstone course. If you choose not to bid, you may also miss the opportunity to enroll in some elective courses since some classes will fill through course bidding.
Q. What classes can I bid on?
A. Capstone courses! Most Ross electives are also included in bidding, but not all. Courses not included in bidding may require permission of the instructor or have other specific requirements. Non-Ross courses (e.g., LSA, Kines, etc.) will not be available in course bidding - you will register for those via the General Registration process. The full list of biddable courses will be available on November 11.
Q. What steps do I need to take before bidding?
A. Students must first clear all financial holds to be eligible to place any bids and should therefore ensure that all holds are cleared before bidding starts on November 20. Students who clear their holds after this date are responsible for contacting the Ross Registrar's Office (RossRegistrarsOffice@umich.edu) as soon as their holds are cleared in order to gain access to the bidding system. (This is NOT an automated process; students with holds will not be able to bid unless they promptly notify the Ross Registrar's Office that their hold is cleared!) The Ross Registrar's Office will accept confirmation of cleared holds until 8:00 a.m. on November 22 at the latest and will do their best to add students to bidding that morning so they can place their bids before the 10 a.m. close of bidding.

Q. How should I bid on Capstone courses?
A. The course bidding system will be designed to process bids made on capstones classes before processing any bids on elective classes. Students will be awarded a maximum of one seat in a capstone course through course bidding. Access to additional capstone seats will be made available at a designated time during the registration process.
We want to ensure that all students have a chance to get into a capstone class of particular interest to them. To help us with this process, we ask that students:
1. Clear any hold they have which will prevent them from registering before bidding opens on 11/18.
2. Participate in bidding (November 18 at 10 a.m. - November 22 at 10 a.m.)
3. Bid on more than one capstone. (Do not bid all of your points on a single capstone! If enough students to fill the class do this, the bidding system will award seats at random and all of your bidding points could be lost.)
Tip: Pay close attention to time conflicts between capstones and electives you're bidding on. (The bidding system won't place you into two sections that have a time conflict and, remember, the capstone bids are processed first.)
Q. What happens after course bidding closes?
A. The Ross Registrar's Office will load all of the results into Wolverine Access (see Bidding Timetable for details). Don’t worry if you don’t see all of the classes you were awarded (or waitlisted for) right away since this process is manual. After your general registration appointment time starts, you can then drop/add classes directly on Wolverine Access. If you are interested in registering for any non-Ross courses, you will add them through general registration.
Q. How can I learn more about elective options?
A. The Elective Options page is a valuable resource for learning more about courses you are considering and includes links to course descriptions, syllabi archives, information published by the academic departments, and course evaluations.
It is YOUR responsibility to make sure you complete the appropriate courses and credits (e.g., distribution, business electives, non-business credits) for your degree. If you have not fulfilled your requirements by the end of Winter 2017, you will not graduate. Don’t get caught with a missing requirement halfway through your last term – make sure that you are aware of your remaining requirements and bid/register for them in advance.
Q. How do I know which degree requirements I have or haven’t completed?
A. Review the BBA core curriculum, track your progress using the Degree Requirements Checklist, and access a degree audit of your record under Academic Requirements in your Student Center on Wolverine Access. Be sure to schedule an appointment with your Academic Advisor periodically to discuss your academic plan and ensure you are on track for graduation. Dual Degree students will need to schedule a "BBA Dual Degree Advising/Issues" appointment with their advisor.
After the Course Bidding process, you may use the University's general registration process on Wolverine Access to add additional open courses to your schedule and make any desired adjustments.
Q. When is my appointment time?
A. The University assigns registration appointment times for undergraduate students between November 30 through December 14. The times are determined by the credits completed, and then are randomly assigned. (You can read more about how registration times are assigned here.) You can view your assigned time on Wolverine Access starting November 14.
Q. Do I need to use backpack before registration opens?
A. Maybe. You do not need to backpack the courses you were awarded through course bidding. If you were not awarded a class you wish to take or if you are interested in registering for classes not available in bidding (e.g., LSA classes) then you will want to backpack those classes using Wolverine Access beginning November 14. Be aware that backpacking does not reserve a seat for you in the class - it is simply a way to put the course in your "shopping cart" so that you can "check-out" quickly. If a class in your backpack is full when your registration time opens, you may waitlist yourself, and/or select an alternate open section at that time.
Q. Do I have to register exactly at my appointment time, and when does my registration close?
A. Some classes will fill quickly, or seats may be opened to non-Ross students after registration has been open for a week or more, so it is to your advantage to register when your appointment time opens. Once your appointment time opens, you can continue to make changes until the drop/add deadlines for Winter 2017.

Graduation and Commencement
Q. When and how should I apply for graduation?
A. You can apply for graduation through Wolverine Access at any time during your senior year. More information on applying for graduation can be found here.
Q. I have a final scheduled after the commencement date. Do I still have to go?
A. Yes. Degrees are not conferred until you have completed all degree requirements, regardless of whether you have participated in a commencement ceremony.
